MLCTF XI FINALS TONIGHT!

The final round of this season's playoffs will be played tonight, starting at approximately 8:30 PM Eastern Time. As usual, it will be a best-of-5 maps match to determine whether Serious Gamers or Team Scientology will be crowned as this season's MLUT champions.
For the second consecutive season, the finals will be showcasing two Division 2 teams. Serious Gamers coming out of the bottom half of the bracket was no big surprise as they were the top seed in that half. Team Scientology, as the lowest seed in top half of the bracket, advances to the finals after first upsetting Pure Dominance, and then Foot Strokes Face.
Captain NANM and teammate Imperium led FSU to victory last season. This season, they both return to the finals, but on opposing teams. Will Imperium's offensive skills and underrated teammates lead him to an MLUT championship for the second consecutive season? Or will NANM and Serious Gamers' intimidating top-5 lineup be too much for Team Scientology? If the match up between these two teams during the regular season was any indication (
http://www.prounreal.com/mlut/matchview.php?c=29&m=1948&s=recap
) of things to come, I'd expect a very intense, exciting, and high-scoring match tonight, one that may possibly go the distance. Tune in tonight at 8 PM Eastern for some pre-game analysis and interviews, followed by in-game color commentary, hosted, as always, by the illustrious m3ssed-2-impr3ss. As usual, UTV will also be feeding once the first server and map have been decided.

After getting the tiebreak map settled between The Foot and Foot Strokes Face, we have created a schedule for the playoffs. We apologize for the delay, but all the admins have been very busy. We decided on a schedule format and a starting date, and the resulting schedule can be viewed here:

Admin Ruling: D1 forfeits to [pd]

Following the completion of the third round D1 vs. [pd] MLCTF match last Wednesday, the admins were notified of Secrid having bound the wave taunt to a fire button. Therefore, the result of the D1 vs. [pd] match will be changed from a tie to a forfeit loss for D1 and a a forfeit win for [pd]. As well, because of his unhappiness with this ruling, PBalla has decided to resign as an admin.
Mid-Season Update

Couple things I'd like to talk about concerning this season.
First off,
ALCTF Playoff Eligibility
, the admins have come to the decision that the top 5 players salary-wise on any team that qualifies for the ALCTF playoffs are not allowed to participate. No matter what happens to the corresponding ML team.
Secondly, on the right when clicking on Map List, one will see that at the bottom of the list a link is there to go to a page I created displaying the entire
map pool
for the Major League.
Thirdly, rumors are floating that HB06 will be out to get their first victory tomorrow with recent additions of players that were not available before. However, the map they chose first round will not be available for Guybrush. We have seen that map selection is extremely vital so far this season. For example, last night boasted a great match between Serious Gamers and Team Scientology. 4-0 maps back-to-back that ended up in a tie! Furthermore, it seems as though Galactica has been burst open and its weak point, Ranel, is now exposed to the league.
Lastly, kudos to captains such as
kidsins
and
ebola
for letting underpriveleged players getting a chance to participate in the league. Player stats are completely up-to-date as well as the standings.
Good luck & have fun!

The entire regular season schedule for both ALCTF and MLCTF has been decided. I was able to update the MLCTF schedule on this website but not the ALCTF schedule yet because the ALCTF website is setup incorrectly. However, whether the ALCTF site is fixed in time or not, ALCTF matches will begin this Thursday, July 13 with MLCTF starting the following Sunday. Also, the admins for each night are listed. Below is the ALCTF schedule. Please refer to
here
for the MLCTF schedule. Note that the MLCTF and ALCTF divisions mirror each other and that an admin is assigned for each night. Therefore, contact that admin first regarding anything about your match including starting it on match night.

Draft Successful

Thanks to all the admins and captains who showed up last night to help complete the draft in a timely fashion. The teams have been updated and can be viewed here:
http://www.prounreal.com/mlut/teams.php?c=29
Captains, please review your team carefully to ensure that the team listed on the site corresponds to the team you drafted. If you notice any inconsistencies, or are one of the captains who picked one of the four players who were added late and weren't in the bot (deca, zaul, magicspell, ross), please let an admin know, and your team will be properly corrected.
Draft on Sunday, July 9th @ 9 PM EST!

The draft will be on Sunday, July 9th at 9 PM EST in #mlutdraft. If captains wish to mess around with the draft bot and test its commands, they should be present at 8:30 PM EST.
There will be no salary cap this season so there will be no round caps and money will be irrelevant during the draft. However, if a captain exceeds the two minutes allotted for each pick and does not take a timeout for whatever reason, expect for your turn to be skipped. The draft will proceed in the normal snake format beginning in this picking order (and then looping back and forth):
Botix
Sub-Zer0
Frank_Castle
Ebola
Khz
Kaz
Nexus
Guybrush
Nine
Stealth
Blizzard
Kidsins
The entire free agent pool will be drafted. However, there will actually be 16 rounds because each captain will lose their pick in one round, the round in which they would have hypothetically picked themselves. This round was determined via the final rankings for if a captain fell in the top 12, he lost his first round pick; if a captain was ranked between 13 and 24, he lost his second round pick, etc. The following is the list of which round each captain will not receive a pick:
Kidsins: Round 1
Blizzard: Round 2
Stealth: Round 2
Nine: Round 2
Guybrush: Round 2
Nexus: Round 3
Kaz: Round 3
Khz: Round 4
Ebola: Round 6
Frank_Castle: Round 7
Sub-Zer0: Round 7
Botix: Round 9
Thus, by the end of the draft each captain will have made fifteen selections. Add in the captain and each team will have a total of 16 players. The top five players in terms of salary on each team will be designated as the starting lineup and be ineligible to participate in ALCTF matches. Please post in the MLUT CTF Forum or the comments section for this news posting if you have any questions or comments.

The player signups have now closed and the website has been set to allow everyone to rank all the players and submit their lists. You can click
here
or navigate to the Free Agents page and then click "Pre-Rank Players!" at the top right of the list. So, take thirty or so minutes of your day that you'd otherwise waste watching TV or something and submit a quality list. If you each submit a list, it will ensure that not only do we have a solid set of salaries but that a few admins won't come up with salaries ourselves. Also, when ranking, just rank all the players and we will remove the appropriate people before releasing the official set of salaries.
Lists may be submitted until Sunday, July 2nd at midnight EST.
Happy Ranking!
Reminder: captains are required to submit an acceptable set of rankings.
P.S. Captains and players, expect the draft to be Sunday, July 9th at 9 PM EST.

After a much longer delay than we had initially planned on, we have twelve captains who have accepted their duties. So, without further ado, in alphabetical order, they are...
Blizz
Botix
Ebola
Frank
Guybrush
Kaz
Khz
Kidsins
Nexus
Nine
Stealth
Sub-Zer0
Navigate to the team's page where you can see what each captain has named his team--at least for now.

For those of you who have scheduled conflicts for the usual Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday MLCTF schedule and have therefore not signed up for this season, you need a new excuse. MLCTF XI will feature a rolling schedule so that every team will play one match on each of the five match nights (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday) over the course of the season. Here is the generic regular season schedule:
Week 1:
Mon - 3 ALCTF Division 1 Matches [Round 1]
Tues - 3 MLCTF Division 1 Matches [Round 1]
Wed - 3 ALCTF Division 2 Matches [Round 1]
Thurs - 3 MLCTF Division 2 Matches [Round 1]
Sun - 3 ALCTF Division 1 Matches [Round 2]
Week 2:
Mon - 3 MLCTF Division 1 Matches [Round 2]
Tues - 3 ALCTF Division 2 Matches [Round 2]
Wed - 3 MLCTF Division 2 Matches [Round 2]
Thurs - 3 ALCTF Division 1 Matches [Round 3]
Sun - 3 MLCTF Division 1 Matches [Round 3]
Week 3:
Mon - 3 ALCTF Division 2 Matches [Round 3]
Tues - 3 MLCTF Division 2 Matches [Round 3]
Wed - 3 ALCTF Division 1 Matches [Round 4]
Thurs - 3 MLCTF Division 1 Matches [Round 4]
Sun - 3 ALCTF Division 2 Matches [Round 4]
Week 4:
Mon - 3 MLCTF Division 2 Matches [Round 4]
Tues - 3 ALCTF Division 1 Matches [Round 5]
Wed - 3 MLCTF Division 1 Matches [Round 5]
Thurs - 3 ALCTF Division 2 Matches [Round 5]
Sun - 3 MLCTF Division 2 Matches [Round 5]
Therefore, nyour only reason for not signing up for MLCTF XI now is because you aren't willing to take the time to play. And, this is not a reasonable excuse for you WoW-heads as you can sacrifice an hour of WoW a week to play some good old fashioned UT. Nothing else compares! Click "Player Signup" to the right!
Update!

The admins have been working diligently to finalize the format, rules, draft setup, etc. for the upcoming season of MLCTF XI. The following post is an update on our progress and an announcement of the known information.
Gameplay:
TIW: On
Cheese: On
Lockdown: Off
Anti-Timer: Off
Redeemer: Off
Teams:
Everyone will be drafted to one of twelve (12) teams. The captain of each team will designated a "starting five" prior to the start of match play. These "starting five" will then be ineligible to participate in the minor league. Should one of these "starting five" not be able to make it for a major league match or the captain wishes to bench one of them, the captain may play anyone else on his team only as there will be no FA pool.
Trading:
Inter-team trading will be allowed this season, however, all trades will be monitored closely by admins to prevent "team stacking" and maintain the integrity of the league. There should be a trade deadline after the second round of matches during the regular season.
Captains:
Currently the signups are Ebola, Botix, Guybrush/Man*of*Steel, Khz, Solidus, Stealth, Rodo/HBK/P-Pop, Nexus, and Xellos. Obviously that list isn't even close to twelve in quantity or quality, thus, we have sent out invites via e-mail, IRC PM, and ProU PM to attract other quality captains. In this way we can get twelve good captains. Please post your opinion on to whom we should send invites.
Draft:
If all the captains aren't going to be capable of being in a team's "starting five" we can't simply use the usual snake draft format as it would result in the captains who are better players having an advantage. The best solution I have seen for this is to make the draft order go 1-12, 1-12, 12-1, 1-12, 12-1, etc. This would be the simplest solution in my opinion. The other viable solution I think is better but involves a little more work. We would rank all the players and assign salaries. Then, we divide up the the list (not including captains) into 12 player pools. We assume that the first round picks would come from the highest set of 12 players and the second round picks would come from the second highest set of 12 players. Then, we take the captains and decide which pool they are in. Next we say that the captain forfeits the selection of the pool that they are in. Thus, let's say NANM is a captain. He would fall within the first pool. Therefore, NANM would lose his first round pick. Then, let's say Guybrush is also a captain and he falls int he second pool. Guybrush would consequently lose his second round pick. Meanwhile as for the order of picking we use our standard 1-12, 12-1 snake. Thoughts?
Match Scheduling:
Do we want to leave all the matches for Tues/Thurs/Sun? This was the crucial question we had to answer. Due to the addition of ALCTF, the admins decided to alter the scheduling system slightly. Match nights will be Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs/Sun. Each night will have two (2) total matches, one ALCTF matchup at 8pm followed by the corresponding MLCTF matchup at 9pm. A captain's ALCTF and MLCTF squad will play on the same day, with the Minor League team playing at 8pm and the Major League team playing at 9pm. Sunday will be used as a larger match night, possibley having 4 or even 6 matches depending on the admin availablity. Obviously, the scheduling would rotate as teams would play on different days of the week, potentially playing once on each day for the 5 week season.
The admins also considering allowing a "reschedule" system where if both captains agree to postpone their match from the Mon-Thurs slots, they may elect to play their match on Sunday instead, and Sunday ONLY. Teams would only be allowed to reschedule if both captains agree. Furthermore, there would be a limit to the use of this reschedule, most likely one or two during the season. Thoughts on the reschedule rule? Playoffs will be scheduled once the regular season is completed, with a week layoff.
Admins:
With the amount of matches we will be having this season (ALCTF/MLCTF) we will need to recruit more admins. If you are interested please contact one of the current MLCTF admins through email on the website
http://www.prounreal.com/mlut/
or in IRC @ irc.gameradius.org #MLUT
As you can see, the only things we have left to do are get twelve quality captains, and decide upon the draft and schedule setup. All of the other information is pretty much set in stone and we are ready to go. Please post in this thread your thoughts on the new setup, the potential draft and scheduling rules, and anything you think we might have missed or haven't addressed with this post. Please be constructive with your posts as flames will be ignored and possibley deleted.
We look forward to bringing you another fun and successful season of MLCTF. Once this information is finalized, we will proceed with the draft hopefully within a week to two weeks time. Thank you very much for your patience.
