Mother's Day matches rescheduled!

The opening two matches of the playoffs that were initially scheduled for Sunday, May 14th have been postponed to Tuesday, May 16. Note the adjusted start times of the matches. The first match will begin at 8 PM EST and then the other matches will begin in 30 minute increments thereafter. This was done to ensure that an admin would be availble to start each match. Also, sorry about the last minute nature of this announcement but the delay was necessary to obtain input from all of the admins.

Also, there was an error in the Playoffs Schedule. Fuck Shit Up registered more Match Wins in the season, thus gets the higher seed over Equalizer (Rule 1.2). Therefore, FSU plays Fraggin' Fun for the Whole Family on Sunday, May 14 @ 9:30pm, while Equalizer players Blunt Brothers on Tuesday, May 16 @ 8pm. We apologize for this mistake. Demorec Rule 4.13 Modified!

Due to the problems caused by the Demorec rule, the admins have collectively decided to modify the rule to prevent its abuse. The following rewrite is the NEW rule, which will be enforced from now on:

Every player must record a first-person demo of each map he plays and keep this demo for fourteen (14) days after the match. If a player joins the server after the start of a map, it is his responsibility to ensure that he starts recording a demo before commencing play.

If foul play is suspected in a match, a player must submit an inquiry directly to an admin. An accusation MUST be made before midnight (12 AM) EST the day AFTER the match, or it will not be considered. The player making the accusation of foul-play, must submit his/her own demo to the admins, along with an explanation of the accusation, which player is in question, and the location in the demo of suspicious play. If the accusing player cannot supply their own demo, the inquiry will be dropped. If review of the accuser's demo reveals no suspicion of foul-play, the inquiry will be dropped. The admins will inspect the accuser's demo, and if there is the possibility of foul-play, the admins will request and then review the demo from the player in question.

Should the player or players in question be unable or unwilling to fulfill the admin staff's demo request promptly, the following punitive structure will be followed:

1st Offense: The map(s) in question will be forfeited to the opposing team and the player(s) in question will be officially warned.

2nd Offense: The map(s) in question will be forfeited to the opposing team and the player(s) in question will be suspended for one (1) official match.

3rd Offense: The map(s) in question will be forfeited to the opposing team and the player(s) in question will be removed from the season.

L.E.G. forfeits Bollwerk to Team Delicious

Following the L.E.G. vs. Team Delicious match Sunday night, Wingz- submitted a demo request inquiry to the admins on behalf of his team. Deeming his suspicion of potential cheating worthy of an investigation, the admins requested {PiN}Hai-Ping's demo of Bollwerk. {PiN}Hai-Kev was unable to produce his demo of Bollwerk citing that he did not take one. Therefore, the result of Bollwerk will be changed from a 3-2 victory for L.E.G. to to a forfeit win for Team Delicious. Also, {PiN}Hai-Ping and L.E.G. receive an official warning as this is their first offense.

Moreover, this returns Team Delicious into contention for the final Division 2 playoff berth. Consequently, Team Delicious' roster has been unlocked. May this incident also serve though as a warning to all players participating in MLCTF. The admins will attempt to follow and enforce the rules to the best of our ability which includes forfeits if players fail to produce requested demos.

Last night someone once again used a ProUnreal account that was not their own to gain access to the MLCTF X website. Several changes were made, but Bman was able to roll back the website to 4 AM of Tuesday, April 25th. This means that everything entered after that time was lost. Consequently, please be patient as we update last night's match results as well as return everything else to its proper working condition. If you notice anything strange or wrong, please contact an MLCTF X admin immediately. Thanks for your continued help and support.

Recording first-person demos is now mandatory!

Please note the newly added rule 4.13 Demos which reads as follows:

Minor League!

All Free Agents as well as drafted players under $300 are eligible to play in the Minor Leagues. These players were divided into eight (8) teams of approximately fifteen (15) players, with one team of fourteen (14). I know this seems like a lot, but we believe many of the players will be inactive and this system will be a good way of identifying these inactive players.

The Minor League teams will be captained by the 8 admins. The admins who are not Free Agents will not be playing, but simply managing the team, deciding on lineups, map selections, and the like. Hopefully from this setup, each team can find one or two players who are active and wish to help with the captaining duties of the team to lighten the burden on the admins.

The Rules for the Minor Leagues are exactly the same as the Major Leagues, including a regular season and a playoffs, with match nights most likely falling on Mondays and Wednesdays. We will cover the Minor League matches much like the Majors, with UTV and possible ShoutCasting, as well as UTSC coverage for the star players that arise from the league. Furthermore, players can at any time move up into the Major Leagues if they are picked up from Free Agency. However, once this happens, if said player is above the $300 cutoff, he will no longer be eligible for the Minor Leagues.

Overall, we feel that this setup will encourage the development of lesser skilled players while also allowing Free Agents to get some competition in.

The following teams were created and will captained by the admin the team is named after. We are still waiting on the website to be setup in order to post the schedule and other information, but for now the teams can at least begin practicing if they choose to do so.

After seeking out those on MLUT teams, we needed an unbiased view. What did we find? Arguably the most dominant McSwartzly player ever and a very nice car. Porsche, although usually a shy guy, had this to say:

After playing a pug with both Ballistic and Nine, their defense this season will be a force to be reckoned with. I managed to catch up with Nine this morning as he awoke to begin his pug training. Thankfully, he is the one member of his extended family who has gone through a bit of puberty and his voice was not that annoying. Here is what he had to say:

Player Interviews: Sly and Kaz

This interview is the first of many to come from the top picks of the teams. For this edition I was able to catch slydogg after leaving the Flying Mullets compound after training extensively with Kaz. I know you think he would be teaching him new runs and the such but Sly said he was starting with the basics and trying to get Kaz to vary his monotone voice. Here is what he had to say:

[14:30] sLY: I think we will do very well. Dawn and myself played in |WM| together for quake 4 and succeeded tremendously. I think we have a well rounded defense and offense. We have both a Texas and Illinois team. We are definitely going to use that to our advantage throughout the season.

[14:32] sLY: Bretzky is pretty ping dependent when it comes to his aim. He does however have backup plans when he has to play with 60 or higher ping, but he clearly isn't as effective. Davinci is easily the most ping dependent player in the league. He is spoiled by his 18 Chicago ping and is unable to adapt to a 60 ping on Texas. He is honestly, in my eyes, a $500 player on Texas. King killa is also extremely ping dependent.

The draft will be held Thursday, April 13th @ 9pm EST in #MLUTdraft on irc.gameradius.org. Any captains who cannot make this time and date need to contact the admins ASAP. Most of the captains have confirmed that they can make this date/time, but captains who cannot will need a substitute drafter who is prepared to draft for the missing captain.

There will be ShoutCast on hand with captain and player interviews as well as live coverage of the draft. The following is the draft salary and round cap information for the captains. Teams will consist of nine (9) players total (8 players + 1 captain). Please study it carefully and be aware of these values for the draft date.

Total Salary Cap: $4,800

In addition, MLCTF will be implementing its first Minor League system this season, allowing more playing time for every player, including the undrafted Free Agents and lower priced players.

Basically, 4 to 6 admins will "captain" Minor League squads and draft the remaining Free Agents and lower-priced Major Leaguers. The admins will not play for these teams. They will merely oversee the drafting, lineups, and map selection for these teams, basically providing the organization for the squad. These teams will then square off in their own full season and playoff format of MLCTF. Players competing in the Minor Leagues will also have the chance to move up into the Majors should a Major League captain decide to draft them from Free Agency.

The following will be the maplist for MLCTF X. This maplist is very similar to that of last seasons, with just a few differences. CTF-Ancient has been removed and replaced with CTF-K-Lined-SE, which is being reinstated after being on hiatus. CTF-Infested-LE101 has been replaced with CTF-Cynosure][LE105, another euromap that has good gameplay and mapflow; We replaced it with CTF-Glacier][-CE105. Finally, we've removed CTF-McSwartzly][ from the TieBreakers list due to its assymetry. We also removed CTF-NovemberCE105 from the Quarters and SemiFinals TieBreakers list due to the slow, stalemate nature of the map. PBalla is a master of UT trivia, hosts the longest-standing and most 'polite' (doesn't host if you don't want him to) UT photo album of all time, was the MLUT 6 Champion captain (shameless plugging for him, that isn't admin-criteria) and is dedicated to the 'idea' of the league and wants to support its players as much as possible.

Adrenaline provides more servers than anyone since INREALM, has an incredible attitude (never heard one person say they can't stand him, unless they had to run against his D,) and is delighted to support the community with his time, which means even more than his great servers.

Both longstanding members of the community with a history of offering selfless support both through their free time and webspace/servers, their opinions, attitudes, values and propensity to be talked into giving hand-jobs and do tons of paperwork as part of the hazing process should be excellent contributions for the success of the league. >:)

At this point in time, we have a quality player pool that is slowly increasing everyday. However, the main thing we lack are captains.
