UT Capture the Flag VII
Player of the Week, Week 6

The number of forfeits in week 6 made this decision very easy, in fact this will also be the first week without an honorable mention. 1 player was well above anyone else this week, and that player was Bretzky.

With 2 of his teams 3 captures and over 50 frags on Orbital, Bretzky was the star for Happy Anniversary in a match they needed to win to clinch a playoff spot.

(01) 01. Colt .45 - Have not lost a map since round 1, but haven't had the most difficult road either. Receiving 12 free points to forfeit, Colt .45 had better be prepared for a larger challenge in the playoffs or may face an early elimination.

(02) 02. Omnibomb - A BYE in week 6 and what looks like a forfeit win in week 7 will give the Omnibomb the best record in the league after the regular season. Many pick them as a finalist, including myself.

(03) 03. Sucka Free: Reloaded - Continued their unpredictable success in week 6 with a split against Poopy. It seems that TMO has finally returned as well, giving this team yet another weapon at it's disposal. They have now clinched a playoff spot and will give teams headaches in the postseason.

(04) 04. Y'all Niggas Poopy As Hell - Split maps with division rival Sucka Free. This team STILL has not clinched a playoff spot and winning a few maps in week 7 may be needed. Poopy's success seems VERY map dependent, but almost a guranteed win on Lava will help them in the playoffs.

(08) 05. Happy Anniversary - Showed they belong with the top teams after a surprising sweep of Organ Donors clinched them a playoff spot. The new additions to the team seem to have been a good fit. The team has a BYE this week and wait to see who their first round playoff opponent is.

(06) 06. Tick Tock, You're Dead - Almost threw away an entire season by not showing up to their week 6 match, but TTYD were able to assemble 5 and win a very important map 2 after forfeiting map 1. All but assured a playoff spot now, but roster problems could spell trouble.

(10) 07. Team Bobo - This team has really come to life. Sweeps in week 5 and week 6 has put BoBo in a position to make the playoffs, a position many didn't expect them to be in after week 4. The addition of Imperium seems to have really revitalized this team, and Project Mayhem hasn't been the same since losing him.

(07) 08. Organ Donors - Needed to win 1 map versus Happy Anniversary to clinch a playoff spot but were unable to do so. Now in jeopardy of missing the playoffs, but still just need 1 map win to clinch a spot.

(05) 09. Project Mayhem - Lost both maps to team BoBO in a huge match, and now the once called "SuperTeam" with the addition of Dawn_G looks like they will in fact miss the playoffs. They really need a sweep versus Poopy as Hell in week 7, which is no easy task.

(10) 10. Yippie Ki Yay, Mother Fuckers - Had a BYE last week and need to sweep the Organ Donors in week 7 to make he playoffs. Not looking good for this skilled team.

(11) 11. Beyond Perfection - Eliminated From Playoffs, expected to forfeit out.

(12) 12. Whatever It Takes - Eliminated From Playoffs, expected to forfeit out.

(13) 13. Dope Rappers - Eliminated From Playoffs, expected to forfeit out.

(14) 14. Pure Dominance - Eliminated From Playoffs, expected to forfeit out.
Playoff Picture, Division 1

With just 2 weeks of matches to go, the playoff pictures are starting to become clearer. In division 1, there are 5 teams fighting for 4 positions. Here's the breakdown.

Happy Anniversary 21ponts 1game remaining
Yippie Ki Yay 20points 1game remaining
Colt .45 20points 2games remaining
OrganDonors 20points, 2games remaining
Tick Tock, You're Dead 16points, 2 games remaining

Now consider the fact that Colt .45 and Tick Tock both play Pure Dominance and Beyond Perfection to end the season, it would be a pretty safe bet to say that they will each pick up their 12 points and make the playoffs. Making things look like this.

Happy Anniversary 21ponts 1game remaining
Yippie Ki Yay 20points 1game remaining
OrganDonors 20points, 2games remaining

Taking a look at the schedule, HA plays the Organ Donors, and so does YKY. Which means OD's last 2 mataches are against HA and YKY. Doing a little bit of math will show that the Organ Donors have to win just 1 map out of 4 to make the playoffs, making the race really between Happy Anniversay and YKY.

Interestingly enough, if Guybrush had not caused his team to forfeit a map by frog jumping, they would pretty much be clinched right now. If Guybrush had not done that the only way they could miss the playoffs is if OrganDonors swept HA and then got swept by YKY. However they do in fact have that forfeit so let's see the scenario's!

OD Sweeps HA :: Organ Donors would be in. If Organ Donors also swept YKY then it would be OD and HA, but if YKY can win one or even 2, it'll be OD and YKY.

OD Splits With HA :: Organ Donors would be in. YKY would have to sweep to make it OD and YKY, otherwise it'll be OD and HA.

HA Sweeps OD :: Happy Anniversary would be in. YKY would have to sweep to make it HA and YKY, otherwise it'll be HA and OD.

As you can see YKY will be cheering for the Organ Donors on Thursday night. Will Guybrush's joke end up costing them the playoffs? Or will it just be a silly mishap, we'll have to wait and see :)

.LW .TW .Team
(01) 01. Colt .45 - Just 2 matches left and both should either be against weak lineups or forfeit wins as both opponents are eliminated from playoff contention. That means not only has Colt .45 been dominant, but they've been this dominant over the best teams in the division and are just hitting the weaker ones now. Colt .45 is undefeated with their starting lineup and are looking better and better every match.

(03) 02. Omnibomb - Could just as easily be in the #1 position. Will the final come down to the highly anticipated Omnibomb versus Colt .45? It'd surely be a treat. Wencer, Havtchy and Cort have lost just 1 map with their starting 5 and haven't looked back since.

(04) 03. Sucka Free: Reloaded - This team continues to find ways to win even with crazy lineups. Had a bye last week but get a serious test this week against Poopy. Will TMO ever showup, or did Sucka Free miss out on picking up someone for him at the lock deadline.

(02) 04. Y'all Niggas Poopy As Hell - Got beat handily last week by The Omnibomb and all of a sudden are in danger of missing the playoffs. Another difficult match this week against Sucka Free, and a loss will mean they will be playing for a playoff spot in week 7. Durron's amazing offense seems to be limited to just a few maps.

(06) 05. Project Mayhem - PM got the much needed win over WiT last week, but this number 5 ranked team is still fighting for a playoff spot as Team BoBo has made a late rush. Project Mayhem has to fight off the hungry Team BoBo this week of face the scenario of missing the playoffs.

(07) 06. Tick Tock, You're Dead - Also known as Team Blackmane, Tick Tock can put it in cruise control now. With week 6 and 7 matches against eliminated opponents, Tick Tock should pick up 12 points by beating weak teams or by forfeit and assure themselves a playoff spot.

(08) 07. Organ Donors - Trying to fight off both Happy Anniversary and Yippie Ki yay to make the playoffs, and have to play them both in week 6 and 7 which should make for some intense matches. Pithon and Phear's excellent play has made up for the lack of Fuze.

(05) 08. Happy Anniversary - Climbed up the ranks early in the season and now falling back down to earth. Happy Anniversary fell apart against Tick Tock and have released the $1800 man Slydogg. Fighting with the Organ Donors and YKY for the last 2 playoff spots, deadline additions of Katatonic and Psycho might not be enough. I saw Psycho play last night, it wasn't pretty folks.

(10) 09. Yippie Ki Yay, Mother Fuckers - Nine gets player of the week in his effort for YKY over Beyond Perfection. With the sweep pf BP, YKY has put themselves in a position to control their own destiny. YKY will make the playoffs if they can sweep the OrganDonors in week 7.

(11) 10. Team Bobo - The return of NANM has given them the boost they needed in order to make a run at the playoffs. Picking up a huge sweep over the DopeRappers team BoBo is now in a good position to squeak in depending on how they fair again Project Mayhem on sunday.

(09) 11. Beyond Perfection - Eliminated from playoff contention. A disapointing season for a team that looked great on paper. Inability to win close maps costs them a playoff sopt.

(12) 12. Whatever It Takes - Eliminated from playoff contention. Team seemed to be doomed right from day 1 when slydogg selected the team and then held out.

(13) 13. Dope Rappers - Eliminated from playoff contention. Inconsistent roster hurt them from week 1, most notably Julian who was AWOL all season.

(14) 14. Pure Dominance - Eliminated from playoff contention. Once again a captain risks a large amount of money on Fader and once again it proves to be a terrible decision.
Week 5, Player of the Week
Posted By: Psycho @ Wed Apr 20, 2005 4:09 pm \\ Comments: 0
This week's player of the week selection was tougher than any of the previous ones, as there were so many players that were just amazing.

NoAimNoMoves had a Triumphant return this week to team BoBo. BoBo needed a sweep of the DopeRappers to keep their playoff hopes alive. NANM was his usual dominant self including 100 frags on McSwartzly. NANM helped BoBo earn the sweep they needed and this week gets an honorable mention.

Hubbs, our week 3 player of the week shutdown what was supposed to be one of the best teams in the league. In fact his defensive performance on McSwartzly was so impressive that he made SlyDogg uninstall the game. How impressive is that!? For such an amazing feat, Hubbs receives an honorable mention.

The Omnibomb, what can you say... whether it's Wencer bringing em home or Havtchy keepin them there, this team just keeps getting stronger and stronger and all of them played unbelieveable this week, including Cort's impressive mid on McSwartzly. This week, all of Omnibomb get honorable mentions.

And finally...

this week's player of the week goes to Nine.

Yippie Kai Yay, Mother Fuckers had a very important matchup this week as they were fighting for their playoff lives and needed at least a split versus Beyond Perfection. Nine was running offense for YKY, who was without Stealth yet again, and his team was counting on him to penetrate the defense of Calculus and Wesdog to bring home the bacon. Not an easy task.

On McSwarztly, Nine captured less than a minute in to the map, then again to tie the score at 2 with less than a minute to go. Then it was Nine again in overtime to win it.

Congratulations to Nine for a fantastic match.
What Now
Posted By: Psycho @ Mon Apr 18, 2005 6:33 pm \\ Comments: 1
I'd like to begin by saying that I am very disappointed. There are really only 2 things left in this community, we play pickup games and we play MLUT. With a community of less then 200 people now, UT is not going to be around for very much longer and I would think that at this point in the game, that people would be able to lose and accept it, without having to blame everyone and everything else because they couldn't possibly lose otherwise.

The fact that people intentionally try to sabotage the league and berate the admins that try their damndest to run it sickens me. People wonder why there are no quality admins, and why there are only few predictions and no write-ups concerning the league. The reason is because the admins get no respect and therefore have no desire to please a community that can't even give a simple thanks in return. Instead the people that make up this community criticize every word of said prediction and then wonder why there isn't one next week. That's just the kind of place this is.

Poor Havoq, who has been arguably the BEST admin for MLCTF this season was put in a difficult position last night and made the call on the spot as best he could with no rules to back his decision. His only motive in this situation is to try and provide a solution to a problem to the best of his abilities to keep a smooth running league for you to all play in. In return he was yelled at to the point where he didn't want to admin any longer and I don't blame him. Havoq has admined more than 50% of the matches this season and deserves much better than what he received. I'm not going to name names, because you all know who you are, and you have lost a lot of respect that I once had for you.

I've spoken with Bman, Zilch and Moose and we've decided that the best course of action would be for me to come on as head admin and complete the season before it becomes unsalvagable. It was originally my intention to come back for MLUT 8 with Mess and Moose and the three of us would run a last season, however that has been thrown out the window for the time being due to the events this season.

In regards to last night, the following decisions are mine and mine alone. I did not consult with the rest of the admin team and am doing this on my own as the head admin. MLCTF admins, if you have any questions or concerns please state so in the private admin forum and I will address those issues there. As for players, all your hate mail can come directly to me, as no other admin had a say in this decision.

hate mail ---> bpower@cntower.ca <--- hate mail

issue 1 -- WhiteRider dumps team to pickup SlyDogg.

While everything WhiteRider did was within the rules of MLUT, it is our job as admins to make sure the captains are making decisions in the best interest of their team and the league as a whole. WhiteRider obviously made the transaction out of personal spite and not to better his team. This act was selfish and will not be tolerated by MLUT. This is not fair to the other teams in the league and it is also not fair to the players picked up by Whatever it Takes.

To correct the situation, the roster for WiT was changed to reflect its state prior to the dump. This means that Happy Anniversary lost their acquisitions of Druid and Nikon and Tick Tock, Your Dead has lost their acquisition of Jesse. In the case of Happy Anniversary, Terminater and TTC have been put back on the roster and the transaction for Katatonic stands, as it had no bearing on other events that took place. Slydogg will remain a free agent at his original holdout price. Tick Tock, Your Dead also had Vengeance added back to their roster.

Following that WhiteRider was removed from the league and will be banned from competing in MLUT 8. Co-Captain Mr. Botix has been set as the team captain and has full control of the team. The team is still in the hunt for the playoffs and as such their roster will NOT be locked. They must however pickup a player to fill out their 10 player team before playing their next match.

issue 2 -- Beyond Perfection vs. Yippie Ki Yay, Mother Fuckers.

During the first minute of McSwartzly between these 2 teams, YKY capped, followed by a server crash. The admin on hand made the decision to restart the map for 19 minutes with YKY ahead 1-0. The 19 minutes elapsed with BP ahead 2-1, bringing the score to 2-2. The match was started again as an OT scenario and YKY capped first to win the match 3-2. BP feels that the map should have been played over in its entirety due to the server crash. BP also felt that they were in a position to cap shortly before the server crash.

There are currently no rules outlining what happens during a server crash in an MLUT match and as such it was up to the admin on hand to make a judgement call on the spot. I must trust the admins on my staff to make appropriate decisions and as such would not overrule their decision except in the most gross of oversights. In this case I feel that Havoq handled the situation well enough and that no further action will be taken. Upon review of the only demo made available to me, it was also shown that prior to the crash neither team had possession of the flag and that taking away YKY's opening cap just because the server later crashed is not justified. The flow of the match is obviously not perfect when something like this happens, but that's the life of online gaming and it is not within our control.

There will be rules added to the site to cover server crashes before Tuesday night's matches begin.

issue 3 -- Rutzy dumps roster.

Following the loss to YKY, Rutzy proceeded to dump the better half of his players in to the FA pool. Once again it is our job as admins to make sure the captains are making decisions in the best interest of their team and the league as a whole. Rutzy obviously did this to directly sabotage the league. AS such, Rutzy's roster was changed back its status prior to the dump. This means that Project Mayhem has lost the additions of Wesdog and Calculus and Vengeance (from Tick Tock). Kid sins, Jolt and dawn_G have all been returned to Project Mayhem's roster.

Following that Rutzy was removed from the league and will be banned from competing in MLUT 8. Calculus has been set as the team captain and has full control of the team. The team is mathematically eliminated from the playoffs and as such their roster will be locked. They must however pickup a player to fill out their 10 player team before playing their next match, this player can be sent to me via IRC or Email and I will manually add them. I hope that Calculus tries his best to field a team for the last 2 games of the season for the betterment of the league.

I hope this clears up everything that is currently outstanding, and I will have predictions for tomorrow night’s matches up by late tonight. There are still quite a few great teams left in this tournament and I can't wait to see the playoffs. Even though everyone cried and begged for a longer season, I think you can all agree that 5 weeks seems to be the limit that a tournament such as this can handle. Thanks for your time, and good luck the rest of the season. Rosters for teams in the playoff race will remain open until the end of round 5 at which point all teams will be locked until the cmomencement of the playoffs.

Power Rankings :: Week 4
Posted By: Goten @ Sun Apr 17, 2005 8:31 am \\ Comments: 0
I was doing my own but psycho posted his, so here you go...

.LW .TW .Team
(01) 01. Colt .45 - A week off for Colt .45 last week as they maintain their grip on the #1 spot in the power rankings, the first team to repeat as #1. One helluva match this week sees them play Happy Anniversary in what just may decide the division championship.

(03) 02. Y'all Niggas Poopy As Hell - These guys have outscored their opponents 47-12 over the first 6 maps of the season and many see them as the team to beat in division 2. Those statistics mught be a little misleading though, Poopy has played three matches and if you exclude Pure Dominance it could be said they've played the 3 weakest teams in the league. Even with their easy schedule, Poopy managed to lose Terra 5-1 to Team Bobo. Poopy needs to prove themselves against a contender, and the last 3 weeks of the season see them play Omnibomb, Project Mayhem and Sucka Free. No easy feat for any team and should prepare them well for the playoffs.

(06) 03. Omnibomb - Losing a 1-0 game in the first matchup of the season has been their only blemish. The Omnibomb have fought their way to first place in the league and are looking like a very impressive unit. Their great play has shot them up 3 spots on the rankings this week, and their next matchup is a huge one as they try to prove themselves against Poopy.

(05) 04. Sucka Free: Reloaded - This team continues to impress. Royal Flush's team is still undefeated and has done so without their #1 pick all season. TMO has been in India and I'm not sure if he's even back yet. This team however continues to find ways to win games, even while playing players like Mogwai and Jagged-Fel. They have the week off this week but then return in week 6 for a matchup against Poopy which should prove to be a classic.

(02) 05. Happy Anniversary - The absence of Slydogg causes "the Streak" to end and bumps *HA* down three spots to number 5 on the rankings. Happy Anniversary is still a great team, but the loss did prove that their depth remains a major problem and keeps them from being at the very top of the league.

(04) 06. Project Mayhem - PM had a BYE last week and saw 2 other Division 2 teams shoot past them in both the standings and the rankings. Weegie and the boys will be looking to put a beating on Whatever it Takes this week and prove that their "on paper" lineup is really THAT GOOD.

(08) 07. Tick Tock, You're Dead - Blackmane continues to lead this runaway freight train towards the top of the rankings. Last week they knocked of Happy Anniversary, and stopped the "The Streak" at 10 games. Now they get a breather in a BYE week and hope everyone in the division doesn't pass them.

(11) 08. Organ Donors - Captain Tripwire re-joined the Organ Donors in time to split maps last week and it looks like the team is back on track. Still without a loss, yet still fighting for a playoff spot, a sweep over Pure Dominance this week should seal one up though.

(07) 09. Beyond Perfection - Beyond Perfection showed that they can play with one of the better teams in the league last week when they split maps with the Organ Donors. Even with the split however, it's gonna be a tough battle for Rutzy and crew to make the playoffs in the very competitive Division 1. Beyond Perfection plays the Mother Fuckers this week, Mars and Stealth are gonna make it a difficult night.

(09) 10. Yippie Ki Yay, Mother Fuckers - Received a forfeit win over Pure Dominance last week. While the points will help for the tight playoff race in division 1, it may hurt this team's chemistry as Stealth has still only played just the one game with his teamates. The Mother Fuckers have an exciting matchup this week, as they play Rutzy's Beyond Perfection who are hungry for some much needed points.

(12) 11. Team Bobo - Finally had a normal starting lineup and looked like a contending team, but still lost both maps in close matches with one of the best teams in the league. If Team Bobo can continue that in to this week against the Dope Rappers they should sweep and move themselves in to the playoff hunt.

(14) 12. Whatever It Takes - Through all their troubles and controversy this season, Whatever It Takes is STILL in the thick of the playoff race, currently tied with Project Mayhem for that last spot. And who do they play this week but Project Mayhem. A sweep by WiT will put them in excellent position to make the playoffs as they play the Dope Rappers next week to end the season.

(13) 13. Dope Rappers - Lineup troubles continue to plauge the Dope Rappers as they have not been able to get 5 starters even once this season. Both the offense and defense have been terrible, but on the brightside they did bring one of the better teams in the league in to overtime on NovemberCE this past week. The Dope Rappers are in a must win situation this week against Team BoBo if they want a chance at the final playoff spot in Division 2.

(10) 14. Pure Dominance - Provided the league with the first no-show forfeit of the season. It looks like Blizzard has not thrown in the towel though and after a few freeagent transactions it seems that Pure Dominance will be back for week 5. If Pure Dominance can get a solid lineup together for the match and sweep the Organ Donors, they will still have a shot at a playoff position in the very tight Division 1.

Colt .45 is undefeated with Hubbs in the lineup as the superstar follows up his impressive week 2 with a dominating week 3. Hubbs had 2 complete games and led Colt .45 to lopsided victories over Tick Tock.

Showing skill on both offense and defense Hubbs' versatility was also key to Colt .45 and picks up Player of the Week for week 3.

Honorable mentions go out to Guybrush, Davinci, Walter and Hedz.

.LW .TW .Team
(02) 01. Colt .45 - A convincing win in both maps over Tick Tock puts them back at the top of the pack.

(05) 02. Happy Anniversary - Happy Incorporated extends their undefeated streak and continue to climb the rankings.

(01) 03. Y'all Niggas Poopy As Hell - Loss to Nanm-less Team BoBo 5-1 on Terra shows a dent in Poopy armor.

(03) 04. Project Mayhem - Mayhem gets even stronger this week with the addition of Dawn_G, but lose a spot to HA.

(06) 05. Sucka Free: Reloaded - Jumped a spot after tying PM even without their top 5, continue to be underestimated.

(08) 06. Omnibomb - Back to back tremendous weeks erases bad first week, Omnibomb looking hot as they move up.

(07) 07. Beyond Perfection - Spit maps with a below average team, BP seems to be settling in to the middle of the pack.

(09) 08. Tick Tock, You're Dead - Lose both maps to a better team, but still jump 1 with the plummet of Organ Donors.

(10) 09. Yippie Ki Yay, Mother Fuckers - Got Stealth back but still lose both to HA, should bounce back next week?.

(13) 10. Pure Dominance - DaVinci takes it to another level to get pd on the score sheet, team looks better after BYE week.

(04) 11. Organ Donors - Lose their captain as team is in flux, need somone to take reigns or forfeits could be on the horizon.

(14) 12. Team Bobo - The addition of Imperium seems to be a smart move as they split with Poopy without Nanm.

(11) 13. Dope Rappers - Bye Week

(14) 14. Whatever It Takes - Losing ways continue, will Whiterider's roster shakeup be enough to right the ship?

This week the Player of the Week was a much tougher choice, but in the end the award goes to Optimus of Yall Niggas Poopie As Hell. Optimus was one half of the explosive offense that racked up 18 caps this week on Whatever It Takes.

Optimus managed to rack up 7 captures, 4 assists, 7 covers and still have time to kill 12 flag carriers and write "michael jackson's guilty" on the side of the blue base during Lavagiant.

Honerable mentions go out to Hubbs, Blackmane, Duy, Cort and everyone else on YNPAH for tremendous weeks. One last note, Durron must be the best lavagiant player ever, capping 8 flags out of 10 grabs.

.LW .TW .Team
(03) 01. Y'all Niggas Poopy As Hell - Stuck it in their opponents ass and moved it around a bit this week.

(02) 02. Colt .45 - Had their starting lineup this week and played like a number 2 team.

(01) 03. Project Mayhem - Improved their lineup with the addition of kidsins, but get trounced. Odd? Yes.

(05) 04. Organ Donors - Split maps with a decent team, their top lineup continues to showup but under perform.

(12) 05. Happy Aniversary - Looked strong against another weak team, still need to prove themselves.

(08) 06. Sucka Free: Reloaded - Took both maps from a struggling team, stronger than first expected.

(04) 07. Beyond Perfection - Looked lost as a team in their first matchup, might spell trouble.

(10) 08. Omnibomb - Bounced back with a convincing win over a strong team, Wencer is not the team.

(07) 09. Tick Tock, You're Dead - Finding ways to win at least a map, Blackmane might just be the best in UT right now.

(06) 10. Yippie Ki Yay, Mother Fuckers - Lost to Colt .45 but could bounce back up the ranks with the return of Stealth.

(09) 11. Dope Rappers - Missing players and losing maps, not looking good for the Rappers, they signed a crippled guy.

(11) 12. Whatever It Takes - Was week 1 fluke? Trounced in week 2 and internal player problems, not a good combo.

(13) 13. Pure Dominance - Bye Week

(14) 14. Team BOBO - Bye Week

Dope Rappers Hold Press Conference
Posted By: Psycho @ Tue Apr 05, 2005 6:16 pm \\ Comments: 1
The Dope Rappers had a press conference today to report some of the saddest news in MLUT history. Earlier today Brian "The Retarded Kid" Power, aka Psycho, was seriously hurt after being hit by a car.

It appears that someone was packeting Psycho's wheelchair during practice and he lagged in to traffic. Psycho is in hospital in serious condition, and doctors say he is paralyzed from the neck down. "Were gonna get him one of those wheelchairs, you know, where you blow in a straw to move it around." said doctors.

Ballistic said that Psycho had been making excellent progress and it was hinted that he might have even cracked the starting lineup. During the press conferencea reporters asked Ballistic how he felt about the situation.

Ballistic :: "This is a very unfortunate incident and our thoughts are with him, I don't understand who could do something like this. Were taking it on day at a time. For now Xellos will fill in, but we hope to have Psycho back once he's fitted with the new chair.

Reporter :: "You mean your still going to give Psycho the roster spot over Wingz? Who can walk on his own two feet and for the most part ISN'T retarded?"

Ballistic :: "Well you have to look and see which one can offer more to the team come game time, and we feel Psycho just has more to bring to the table."

Reporter :: "But he moves by blowing through a straw...."

Ballistic :: "The kids a fighter, it's just one more obstacle he'll have to overcome."

Reporter :: "A FUCKING STRAW!"

Ballistic :: "Yes but at least now when Psycho blows, it accomplishes something. Wingz just plain blows."

More on this story as it develops.
Dope Rappers Sign Retarded Kid

The Make A Wish Foundation has made another little boys dreams come true today. Psycho was a minor league UT player that had his legs crushed by the elevator on Gauntlet in a botched flag run and has since been stuck in a wheel chair unable to walk. He's not actually retarded, he was just pretty stupid before the accident anyway, he just can't walk. Psycho's one dream was to play for an MLUT team and in conjunction with Dope Rappers, his dream has become a reality.

Here is a clip of an interview with Ballistic, captain of the Dope Rappers, earlier today on ESPN.

Reporter :: "This was an amazing thing you've done for this boy."
Ballistic :: "Yeah, well we consider this an upgrade and the whole team is excited to have him on board."
Reporter :: "But he can barely speak.. he's a retard."
Ballistic :: "We'll work with him."
Reporter :: "But... he can't walk."
Ballistic :: "Like I said, we'll get him in the gym, see if we can get him in game shape."
Reporter :: "HE'S IN A FUCKING WHEELCHAIR."
Ballistic :: "Look dude, have you seen Wingz play? It's an upgrade."

We'll have more on this story in the coming weeks.

Blackmane was in the top 10 of numerous categories this week including Frags, Captures AND Flag Kills. Blackmane also had the most points in the week with 351.

Some honerable mentions go out to Bretzky, Duy, MarsFire and Druid.

No Surprises Here

Division 2 finished up week 1 matchups on thursday night, and unlike the division 1 matches, things went pretty much as predicted.

Project Mayhem, the second ranked team coming in to this season showed why they are so respected. With 2 of their more dominant staters unavailable for the match (Brutal and Imperium), it looked like Project Mayhem might have been in trouble. Project Mayhem perservered however, with super-sub Katatonic playing extremely well and suprise starter XaeroFlex having an impressive showing, they were able to dispose of the Ballisticless Dope Rappers in 2 maps. Solidus had a strong showing for the Rappers, but his defense wasn't enough to hold back the Project and the juggernaut that was Beastly.

It is unknown at this time when Brutal and Imperium will be able to return for Project Mayhem. Imperium is still out with an undisclosed injury and Brutal continues to consider retirement. Ballistic should be back for the Dope Rappers in week 2.

Whatever It Takes has had an up and down season already and they've played just 1 match. Following the draft Whatever had a "decent" team which had a shot at making the playoffs. With the holdout of Slydogg though the team was in trouble, and was on the verge of folding before the season even started. The addition of Dawn_G to Whatever though rejuvinated the team and possibly made them better than they were coming out of the draft. The team had it's first test against Nanm and Team Bobo.

What should have been a close and entertaining match quickly became a cake walk as Team BoBo had to play without superstar Nanm, the backbone of their team. Without Nanm in the lineup Whatever dominated Orbital and didn't even play Dawn_G on McSwartzly, his best map! Whatever decided to rest Dawn, saving him for later in the season, and were still able to win 4-3. There have been some conflicting reports as to why Nanm wasn't able to start but team officals are optimistic that Nanm will be available for his next start.

The final match of the night had the very evenly matched Omnibomb go head to head with Sucka Free: Reloaded. Without TMO it looked like Wen and Mancer would walk through the depleted defense of Sucka Free, but Duy had a tremendous night, letting Wencer capture just twice, including a shutout on the offense oriented Ancient. The two teams split the maps, but Omnibomb didn't look as stong as most had expected, and it looks like Sucka Free's defensive combo of TMO and Duy will be devestating when they eventually play together.

Top Players MIA, and Anniversary Silences Critics
Posted By: Psycho @ Wed Mar 30, 2005 2:06 pm \\ Comments: 0
The first week of MLUT kicked off last night some much anticipated matchups seeing results many of us were not expecting.

The number one ranked Colt .45 started the night off in the much anticipated matchup against Organ Donors. Both teams had a tremendous starting lineup on paper but there were questions of wether or not Fuze and Pithon would show for the Donors. Half the tandem showed up (Fuze), and gave the Organ Donors a very solid starting lineup. The same could not be said for Colt .45 who were missing 3 starters (Hubbs, Mavz and KK) and were also without their 6th man Racer. In what might be the most depleted lineup in MLUT history, Colt .45 showed their depth by playing with their 7th, 9th and 10th men to start the match.

The first map was Orbital, and while Krippler and Ultranova did everything they could to keep it close, and even though Colt only lost 3-0 it just might be considered the saddest game of Orbital ever played. The lowest score on the Organ donors (31) was well above the bottom three players on Colt .45 COMBINED (21).

Colt .45 got some help on map 2 in the form of Racer, and it made a closer match of things as Racer capped to tie the match 1-1 late on McSwartzly. The effort was futile though as the Organ Donors finished up the map with the 2-1 win. Colt .45 did show they have a tremdous amount of depth though as bother their 6th AND 7th men played admirably and when the starters return they could very well take division 1. Trip looked good in the match and seeing Fuze playing for the team you have to wonder, if Pithon shows up as well this team will be a wrecking ball.

The second match of the night was one everyone wanted to see, as Happy Anniversary took on Pure Dominance. Happy Anniversary's lineup has been questioned all preseason but was the ONLY team that had all 5 starters show. On the other hand, Pure Dominance was without both Fader and Prodani, leaving their offence extremely weak, and putting a lot of Pressure on Davinci. Pure Dominance was heavily out fragged on both maps and the scores were much closer than the actual games were. Pure Dominance was constantly on their heels trying to hold on and in the end saw both maps slip away. Pure Dominance is still a fantastic team, but they need at least one of Fader or Prodani to be reliable if they hope to be successful.

The final match of the night saw 2 more great teams missing great players. Yippie was without their captain and top player Stealth while Tick Tock was missing both Desolation and Breakdancer. Even without Stealth however, Yippie dominated on Ancient and took away an easy 6-2 win as Kaz and Nine really stepped up, while Marsfire and Sabotage remained their consistent selves. After the loss however, Tick Tock took another blow as Slam vanished and they were forced to use Sephir. Sephir is a player I can honestly say I have NEVER heard of and going in to McSwarztly preetty much playing 5v4 it wasn't looking promising for Tick Tock. In an amazing display however, Blackmane dominated the map while RoughRider, Terminater, and Pballa all stepped it up a notch and the team came away with a 4-3 win to split the series.

Tomorrow, more exciting MLUT action, stay tuned.

Captain Preview! :: BOBOBO
Posted By: Psycho @ Sat Mar 05, 2005 6:21 pm \\ Comments: 7
It's been a while since I've had a hand in helping out with MLUT as my real life has changed quite a bit over the last year. Unfortunately I still don't have a computer at my new place and as such I won't be able to do as much as I would like in this upcoming 7th season. However, I will do my best to keep this page lively and help with stuff that doesn't require me to be on IRC or UT :)

The first thing I thought I would do is write a series of articles profiling some of the captains for season 7, and the first person on that list is BOBOBO.

As I sat down to write this article, the first thing that came to my mind is, who in the fuck is BOBOBO? So I guess I had to do a little research.

BOBOBO was just 5 years old during the time when MLUT was running it's first season, he enjoyed eating glue and stared at shiny things for hours on end. However MLUT scouts noticed his speed and agility early on, as BOBOBO dominated intense games of duck, duck, goose. BOBOBO was destined to be a star.

BOBOBO watched MLUT II intensely, 10 years old now, BOBOBO's favorite team was Here To Beat Durron and cheered them on throughout their championship season. BOBOBO realized then that you don't have to actually be good to win an MLUT championship. From that moment on BOBOBO decided he wanted to be just like his idol, Rutzy. BOBOBO's parents signed him up for little league and he dominated at a local arena that was setup for Face 24/7.

MLUT III started, and BOBOBO's favorite team Here To Beat Durron continued its succesful ways by having an undefeated season. Now 15 he knew he would be eligible for season 4 and was currently playing college UT out of Unreal Playground where past great players like... umm... have any great players come from Unreal Playground? Regardless... BOBOBO knew that his skills didn't measure up to those of the MLUT, but he kept telling himself, if Rutzy can do it... anyone can.

MLUT IV, BOBOBO enters the draft as a rookie at just $196 and goes undrafted. BOBOBO was heartbroken but he wouldn't remain teamless long. Eventually he was picked up by Element, then dropped and picked up by J-Blasters Plus, then dropped and picked up by... well you get the point, BOBOBO was passed around more times then tempest's sister at a LAN party, but BOBOBO perservered.

With MLUT V on the horizon, BOBOBO worked out in the offseason by playing in the elite pickup league DopePugs to try and improve his game. BOBOBO's game did improve and when MLUT V rolled around he was worth a whopping $255. Speculation had it though that this improvement in skill was artificial and that BOBOBO was using adrenaline. BOBOBO has denied the allegations, but in a recent interview, slydogg had this to say; "Yeah, I put it right in his ass. Oh, Does he use Adrenaline? Sorry I misheard .... uh... ya I think so."

Even with all the allegations arising however, BOBOBO was drafted by the Wangstas. BOBOBO's positional felxibility was a crucial part of the Wangstas, filling in on either left or right bench on a nightly basis. BOBOBO's pompoms weren't enough though as the Wangstas failed to make the playoffs after going 1-2-2.

Ready to fill the shoes of his hero Rutzy, BOBOBO applied to be a captain in season 6. With the league desperate for captains, and the admins smoking an obscene amount of crack, BOBOBO was listed as the captain of Dexterity for MLUT VI. Much like his hero, BOBOBO drafted an impressive team filled with players much better than himself.. yet he played himself every map and yet the team was somehow still succesful. So successful, that Dexterity was one of only 2 teams to not lose a match in the regular season, going 1-0-4.

The playoffs weren't as spectacular for Dexterity though, pitted against the other undefeated team aCs in the first round and getting thouroughly trounced in the process. That brings us to MLUT VII as BOBOBO continues on his trek to "Be Like Rutzy". BOBOBO will be changing his team name to Bodycount in the hopes of changing his teams fortunes. His right hand man from last season Blizzard will now be off to captain his own team meaning BOBOBO already has to think about how different his team will look. Will superstars Dawn_G and TMO be back? Will BOBOBO draft Rutzy? Will BOBOBO get to captain AGAINST Rutzy... only time will tell. Everyone, lets wish BOBOBO the best of luck in season 7.

Captains Selected!
Posted By: m3ss @ Sun Feb 27, 2005 10:49 pm \\ Comments: 3
As of right now, we aren't exactly sure of this season's format. Some people have proposed changing the setup to spice things up. So we're brainstorming at the moment and taking input. I've selected 12 captains as of now, who I think will draft competitive teams and do well in their position. The captains are:

Ballistic
Guybrush
Weegie
BOBO
durron
Blizzard
WhiteRider
Stealth
RoughRider
nexus
Royal_Flush
Krippler

This is not the final amount of teams/captains, and some of these guys could possibly drop out if they do not confirm. So captains signups, as well as player signups, will remain open until definate rules/guidelines have been decided upon.

In other news, we will be in need of admins, prediction writers, servers, etc. as usual this season. I will also be stepping down as head admin. After running 5 of six seasons, I'd like to bow out and allow someone else to take the reigns. I have many reasons, the main one being lack of time once I return to school. That said, if anyone is interested in the position, please approach me. I will not select just anyone for this job, but do not feel upset if I reject you.

Once again though, I'd like to thank everyone through the years and through the seasons who have contributed in any way, shape, or form. I want to thank each and every one of the players and captains who gave MLUT a shot in the beginning, and everyone who continues to play in this league. I couldn't have been happier with what MLUT has become and I wish it the best as I leave. Hopefully it will last as long as you guys want it to. :)

We as a community are approaching hallowed ground in the history of Unreal Tournament. In it's 6+ year long history, there have been many tournaments that have come and gone, in many formats. UTI made it through 5 successful seasons with CTF. ShockWave managed to make it to an astounding seven seasons (I think), but both of the former tournaments were clan-based, involving much less complexity. PCL was groundbreaking, much more ambitious than MLUT has been; this tourney was definately the early father-figure for MLUT. Yet, despite its freshness and shear magnitude, PCL fizzled due to lack of admins after only a season. UDL burst onto the scene late in the game, with a slight twist on the draft league idea of PCL. While extraordinarily successfull, UDL also only made it through one season. And then there was one...

MLUT was mine and Psycho's brain-child. People laughed and scoffed at the initial idea, and even the name. They said it was stupid. They said it would never work. They said it would fail, just like its predecessors. They said UT was dead...

...Well my fellow friends and fraggers....They were WRONG! Because here we are, at the dawn of our seventh season and still playing like its our last. And why? Well first and foremost because of people like [Z]Moose and [Z]INREALM, who without which, we wouldn't have had such great pub servers, TS2 servers, as well as UTV servers keeping the competitive community thriving; people like Zilch, who created a brilliant interactive and integrated website, FOR FREE and on his OWN TIME, which far surpassed mine and Psycho's wildest dreams; guys like {PiN}Kev, who took the time to write numerous amazing mods that in my opinion have really helped keep the competitive community going, mods like SmartCTF, DeluxeChat, Auto-Spec, and Anti-Timer; people like brutal and tr1p, who have constantly allowed the public use of their [bp] servers for pugs and matches; other players like chicken, Cinco, Ripped, and barbo, who continue to offer their support with their UT servers free of charge; people like Psycho, WallyFSU, and Tempest, and ALL the admins who've given their spare time to make MLUT what it is. Even the players and the captains are a huge, integral part of what makes MLUT happen. MLUT ONLY works because of what ALL of these guys do TOGETHER.

I personally want to thank each and every one of them for what they have done, and what they continue to do to keep UT and MLUT alive and well. I want to welcome you guys to the next and hopefully greatest MLCTF of them all. We've opened up the Captain's Signups and we want anyone and everyone interested to sign up. What's in store for MLCTF this season? You'll have to stay tuned to find out...
